I promised yesterday that I would give you some options for capturing your baby in that precious 4 week newborn window and what it really boils down to is that you have 4 choices:
1. Don’t take any newborn photos at all
2. Hire a professional (check out our QUIZ in the bio to help you decide what kind of newborn photographer you should hire!)
3. Take your own with some help from the professionals
4. Take your own on a whim and without a plan
I’d go ahead and rule out options 1 and 4, because those two will only lead to regret and disappointment. Which leaves you with hiring a professional or taking your own images with some knowledge under your belt.
When I had my 3rd, I chose both of these options. And I love both results. The photos that I took of him aren’t perfect, but I love them. And the photos the professional took are pretty darn close to perfect but don’t feel quite as personal to me – just a beautiful baby boy on a clean studio background.
Don’t get me wrong- I love professional photography sessions and I’m not at all suggesting you rule them out. (And if you’re in Boise I’d love to work with you!) But there is a level of pride and excitement when you get a beautiful shot of your baby yourself. Your own photos can be an amazing compliment to professional photos, or they can completely replace them.
Whichever route you pick, I’d love to help you be prepared. If you have any questions about how to find the right photographer, or how to prepare to take your own photos, send me an email hello@gleanandco.com. I’m here for you!
Cheers,
Paige
