We hold our signature cake smash + splash sessions in our SE Boise lifestyle photography studio as well as in Idaho’s great outdoors!

We encourage you to join in on the celebration (and the photos!). We’re looking for lots of laughter, dancing, singing, playing and feeding each other bites of cake. Be prepared to get a little messy and have a lot of fun.

The design & ordering appointment is hands down our favorite part of the entire process. This is where we show you your images for the first time and help guide you in choosing the very best keepsake products for your home and family.
We believe this is the part that absolutely shouldn't be skipped and sets our services apart from other photographers! We begin with a small slideshow with ideas for wall galleries, albums then go through each image one by one, helping you choosing the very best of the best.

Some families prefer to have birthday images taken a few weeks BEFORE the actual big day so that they have finished images to share with family and friends. Other families prefer to wait and celebrate on the actual day or right after the actual birthday. Which would you prefer? There's no wrong choice.
When should I schedule my cake smash photos?
Is the cake included?
Think outside the cake! We welcome alternative smash sessions and would love to brainstorm ideas for your custom session. Does your baby love spaghetti? Perhaps a marinara palooza is in order! Have a halloween birthday? let's smash some pumpkins instead. The sky is the limit.
What if I don't want my baby to have cake?
We understand that stuff comes up and will do our very best to get you rescheduled whenever possible. We ask that you please use the “better safe than sorry” mindset and reschedule if you or another family member is sick.
Your baby's safety is our number one priority. We thoroughly clean and sanitize between sessions, wear masks the entire time we're holding your baby and are safety certified in both newborn photography posing as well as infant CPR.
Yes! We encourage older siblings, mom & dad and even grandparents to take part in our sessions and do not charge extra for additional people. Please just let us know in advance who to expect so we can plan accordingly.
What if I need to reschedule?
Can the whole family be included?
We offer a list of our absolutely favorite local vendors that can provide you with the perfect smash cake for your baby's Boise cake smash session. Due to allergies, food sensitivities and personal family preferences we do not provide the actual cake.
How long does the session last?
Our cake smash & splash sessions traditionally begin with clean baby/family photos, cake smash photos and a quick bubble bath cleanup. It usually takes between 1-1.5 hours in total.
Your Questions, Answered
If you choose a studio cake smash we are happy to do an immediate viewing and ordering appointment directly after the photoshoot. If you opt for outdoors we'll invite you in to view your images within a week.
How long does it take to see my images?
Wait, Viewing Session? What’s that?
Your images are finalized 7-10 days after your ordering appointment and sent via web gallery for your approval. Once product orders have been placed, albums and collection boxes arrive in about 3-4 weeks. Please allow 8-10 weeks for custom framing and wall art. Once everything arrives we will let you know that it is ready for pickup at the Glean Studio.
Once my order is placed how long does it take to arrive?
All images that you purchase are professionally color corrected for print and cleaned up for stray hairs, tiny blemishes, baby acne etc. Extensive retouching is available for an additional fee.
Yes, all of our collections are available with or without the physical products. While we highly encourage creating a keepsake art piece for your child, it is ultimately your decision.
Our cake smash session base package includes our 5 image matted print collection. There is not obligation to purchased beyond this. We want you to walk away with only the artwork you absolutely love and cherish.
How much editing do you do to the images?
Is there a minimum purchase required?
Can I just buy digital files?
A viewing session or ordering appointment is when we meet with you and any other household decision makers to look at your images together for the first time and place your artwork order. It takes place at the Glean studio or at your own home by special request. At this session you’ll see the products we offer, choose your favorite images, request any changes you might have and we’ll place the order the very same day with cash, check or card.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! We are happy to offer payment plans with Affirm as well as Afterpay so you can receive your images while your baby is still little- but break up the payments over time.
